Product Description

The first Arduino YUN is the combination of a classic Arduino Leonardo (based on the Atmega32U4 processor) with a Wifi system-ona-chip running Linino (a MIPS GNU/Linux based on OpenWRT). We embedded the Linux machine directly on the PCB of the Arduino Leonardo and we connected the two so that from Arduino it s very easy to run commands on the Linux side and use it as an Ethernet and Wifi interface.

    The Yun is perfect for IoT. I use it as an energy monitoring system for my solar panels. The Arduino part is doing the measurements and the Linino part is making the data available via Wifi. Whatever task doesn’t fit into the limited memory of the Arduino I can delegate to the Linino which has now enough memory thanks to the SDcard which is mounted as a memory expansion. I am running a Sqlite database and PHP webpage on the Linux (Linino / Openwrt) side. And the Arduino part measures current from the solar panel and house consumption every second.     An addition to my previous review:
    The Arduino Yun is now running for 4 months 24/7 measuring my power consumption and production without any failure. Really good product.
